¡Viva: Chile le gana a Alemania 4-1!

Por alguna razón, el periodismo busca mostrar el lado conflictivo de los personajes públicos, cuando están enojados, molestos o irónicos. Pocas veces rescatan el humor que ellos también suelen exhibir.

En la reciente Expo Alemania 2005, en sus respectivos discursos, tanto el embajador de ese país, Joachim Schmillen, como el presidente Lagos llevaron las relaciones entre ambos países al terreno del fútbol.

Esto dijo aproximadamente el diplomático germano:

“Estamos en esta feria porque queremos ser campeones en el mundial del 2006. Chile aumentó sus exportaciones a Alemania en un 80 por ciento, en cambio mi país sólo ha incrementado sus ventas para acá, en poco más de un 20 por ciento. O sea, el marcador está Chile 4 – Alemania 1.”

A su turno, el presidente Lagos replicó:

“Es cierto lo que ha dicho el embajador. El marcador estaría 4-1 a favor de Chile. Pero, si le restamos el precio del cobre, quedaríamos1 3-1. Yo jugaría por el empate, porque sería bueno para nosotros igualarnos con Alemania. Sin embargo, prefiero conversar de otra cosa, porque de fútbol últimamente es mejor ni hablar…”

Chile defeates Germany 4-1

For one reason or another, journalism looks for showing that conflictive side of authorities, when they are annoyed or ironic. Almost never they show their good humour that they show too, once in a blue moon.

In the late Expo Alemania the German ambassador, Joachim Schmillen, and the Chilean president brought the relationship between those tow countries into the football field.

This was what Schmillen said:

“We are in this fair because we want to be champions during the next Footbaal World Cup. Chile has increased its exportation to Germany to an 80%, but my country has done just the 20% to here. That means the score is Chile 4 – Germany 1.”

President Lagos replied:

“It is true what ambassador said. But if we take away the cooper price the score would be 3-1. What we really want is playing to matching or to be equal with Germany. That would be fine for Chile. But let’s talk about another topic. We definitely are not strong in football right now.”
